“Apurbo, your
singing is apurbo, too”, Closeup
1 Judge Fahmida Nabi gave this
complement after listening the
song ‘Din jaye kotha thake’ in
Avijatra round. Apu’s music
training from his father and his
hard work showed its true colour
when he got accolade from judges
after singing only one song. He
dared to sing Nazrul Sangeet
‘Shurer o banir mala’ in the
Audition Round in Rajshahi and
snatched the attention as well
as the ‘Yes Card’ from the
judges. He sang ‘Paharer kanna
dekhe’ in Selection Round and
Judge Fahmida Nabi said, “he has
a sweet voice.”
When he performed the song
‘Chader kolongko achey’ in
Instrument Round, Ahmed Imtiaz
Bulbul expressed his
satisfaction and shared a very
rare experience with him. In
1971 our National Poet Kazi
Nazrul Islam came to Dhaka and
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul got the rare
scope to pass some time with him
and kiss the legs of the poet.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul made Apu
fifty percent owner of this
extraordinary gift. This was
really an excellent achievement
for Apu in Closeup 1.
‘Maa janani’ was the song Apu
sang in the Track round and
according to Ahmed Imtiaz
Bulbul, he (Apu) is blessed by
mothers around the world. In
Shadhin Bangla Betar Kebdro
round, he sang ‘Purbo digonte
shurjo uthechey’ and Partha
Barua remarked ‘Durdhorsho
Singing’. In Moulik Gaan round
the lyricist and composer of his
song were Robiul Islam Jibon and
Shawkat Ali Emon. Apu said these
two persons are really genius.
His challenge was in Ahmed
Imtiaz Bulbul special round when
he got the song ‘Shei rail liner
pashey’ sung by Sabina Yasmin.
He presented it in new style,
different from Sabina Yasmin and
his attempt was quite
praiseworthy. Apu’s most
memorable incident was the dance
with Rakhain girls in Avijatra
round and his saddest incident
is the moments of separation
with the other four
participants.
Apu’s dream is to secure a
special space for Bangla Songs
in the world of global music.
This is only the beginning and
he is very much thankful to
Closeup 1 and Unilever
Bangladesh Limited for creating
the platform for new talents. |
